DPG Media is one of the largest media companies in the Netherlands and Belgium. The organization includes well-known brands such as the Algemeen Dagblad, Trouw, Het Parool, NU.nl, and Qmusic. With so many different editorial departments, teams, and disciplines, recruitment is a crucial part of the organization.
When the contract with the recruitment platform Recruitee (owned by Tellent) was renewed, it seemed like the logical time to take another look at the system’s setup. The question was not only whether the technology still met our needs, but more importantly, whether the underlying process still aligned with the organization. This led to a need:
DPG Media wanted greater transparency, a more efficient workflow, and a better experience for candidates.
A recruitment platform that grows with you
To ensure this step was taken carefully, DPG Media enlisted the help of our consultants. Not only to assess the technical aspects, but also to work together to thoroughly review the entire recruitment process.
From the very beginning, the teams worked closely together. We provided insight into the application’s current architecture and helped the DPG Media project team clearly define what the ideal situation should look like.
That collaboration went beyond mere configuration. Matchlab acts as a co-pilot: contributing ideas, providing structure, and offering guidance where needed.
A new ATS system, based on what really works
The project began with an analysis of the existing Recruitee environment. What processes were in place? Where were the bottlenecks? And where were the opportunities to make the process simpler and clearer?
Based on these insights, a new structure was designed in collaboration with the DPG Media project team.
We then provided support in redesigning the ATS application. This included:
- optimizing workflows,
- streamlining processes,
- and better align the tool with the day-to-day work of recruiters and hiring managers.
In addition, there was a strong focus on implementation within the organization. We helped build buy-in and provided training for both HR users and hiring managers. This ensured that everyone at DPG Media could work confidently in the updated environment.
Greater internal control and a better process for candidates
The new structure ensures a clearer and more efficient recruitment process within DPG Media:
- Teams have a better overview of their workflows,
- Recruiters can act more quickly,
- Job seekers have a better understanding of their role in the process.
But the most significant impact is felt outside the organization. A streamlined process directly translates into a better experience for candidates. And in a competitive job market, that experience is what makes all the difference!
Technology that truly helps people move forward
Beyond the technical aspects, recruitment is always about people. By collaborating with the DPG Media project team, we developed a solution that is not only technically sound but also works in practice for the people who use it every day.
“Our partnership with Matchlab is working out well for DPG Media. They have a wealth of in-house expertise and skills, which allows us to find suitable (often customized) solutions for our company. We’re well on our way to taking our recruitment efforts to the next level. It’s a welcome addition to the services offered by Tellent – Recruitee.”

That is exactly what technology in recruitment is for: to support people so they can focus on making the right matches.
